Just listened to Kevin Energy's mix of HH2 on the way to college today and though of how good this Acid Trance sound is. Tracks like Alek Szahala- Lumi (Kevin Energy Remix) and Kevin Energy and The *Ting*- Power in the light (Arkitech remix) are good examples of this new sound that should hopefully one day take over trance and become the new Hardcore 'sound' like Techno was (and somtimes still is) It's one of the better things of post 2000 Hardcore.
Whats everyone else's thoughts on such a 'sound'

Um...what?
I agree that those songs are incredible, but they're both freeform.
In fact, the Arkitech's remix is the only one that slows down in the breakdown, but that's his signature style. And maybe Stormtroopers as well.
The Kev Evergy Remix of Lumi is a nice tune, but the original is Finnish freeform, and this new version is straight new energy freeform.
I think what you're thinking of is hard dance a la NEC...
Check out NEC Live at Frantic (the CD) it is incredible.

In all honesty though, I think there are that many freeform track that are like sped up trance with acid influence that its starting to define the genre, but by definition freeform should be hardcore with no rules!

Benny Benassi- Satisfaction sounds Acid and caused quiet a stir when it appeared in the mainstream back in 2003 but might be a sign of how trance is 'moving with the times' There are a large number of Hardcore and non Hardcore tracks with this Acid sound so I think it is starting to take oevr Hardcore, slowly, just like Trance toke over from Techno

jenks, I agree, freeform is a pretty bad name for the genre...
All though, it can be the most creative form of hardcore at times.
My favorite "Acid" song is Acid Pants by Orbital :p

Acid has been used in many types of hardcore since the very beginning it's nothing new.
