It depends if the MC is talking too much over the music.
I like less talk, but I don't mind songs that feature MC's, but to have one talking over an entire event is irritating.
Sharkey is my favorite MC, and he is there to keep the energy up!

I like good MC's, who know their stuff and aren't there because they think they're more important than the music. Sharkey & Ribbz are 2 prime examples of MC's who only serve to enhance the music rather than replacing it.
MC's who are only interested in bigging themselves up and making sure that they leave no part of the DJ's set untouched are about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit!

The thing is, listening to MC's is defferent on tape packs etc than it is live. Some MC's on tapes pack sound shit and then when you hear them live you really appreciate them coz they're getting you going, where as some MC's sound ace on a tape pack with their lyrics and not talkin over vocals, but when you see them live they aren't taking much notice of the crowd they're just doing their own thing.
There are a lot of shit MC's, but there are even more people who dismiss them because of what they've heard whilst not at a rave..
Matter of opinion I guess.

rarely a fan of mcs, knowing when to be quiet seems like a lost art =P and knowing that trying to get them to scream every 5 minutes is kind of pointless, totally sucks the energy out of people

Good MC's know how to keep the crowd pumping without talking over the DJ excessively... they have their time and place... The best know when to shut up and just enjoy the tunes that the DJ's pump out
