Thanks everyone!! 
Been mostly going 2-3 times a week for the last few months...
Wanted to do this for ages and am really glad i've started. I'd definatly recommend it to anyone thinking about it. But starting is the easy bit...continuing is hard.
But the whole level of confidence it gives is unbeatable and after hard training sessions, you can feel yourself become more healthy.
Heard that some styles of self-defence focus on flexability and being able to spin in the air..that kind of stuff...But the like of thai and kick boxing (As baldo said) are much more about the physical side of it.
So far, my record of press-ups if 29 in 20 seconds!
