a rave in yorkshire plays all types of music like hardcore, old hard trance etc. Plays a lot of classic old sets as opposed to raverbaby style stuff.
In yorkshire/north east a lot of people dont say hardcore they just call the music by the name of the place its played like monkey, diz, uprising or just call it rave.
i think its kinda because its more than one genre that gets played at them, and it's where people hear the tunes.
In answer to your question katie i prefer gabber and cant normally be arsed with mc's on tapes cos most are shit.

Ah right the party Uprising, i've heard of that.
In that case i'm sure i'd enjoy the tunes as I like every sub genre going but I don't really like listening to cd's/tapes with mc's on them either.

I knew that's what Katie meant - just needed a couple of hours to calm down before i commented properly!
Uprising is very popular, nothing bigger (monthly) in Yorkshire - i was a regular years ago.
But one thing that really pisses me off about being from Yorkshire is that people here just get stuck in their own little scene and often don't have a clue what's going on nationally - therefore thinking they have their own style/scene (which isn't really the case in recent years).
Uppy/Diz line ups have got more commercial recently (for the better imo) as people have realised that you can only listen to so much Hard trance, techno & hardstyle!
Luckily, i realised years ago that you don't drop off the end of the world if you go past Leeds!

thats why i like travelling to different parts for raves though dean mate, it really is like its own little scene and good forra change.
In glasgow the raves are mainly all bouncy techno/gabber, the north east is makina/italian, yorkshire the old hard trance, north west the scouse house and further south is the modern hardcore with breaks popular in london. Uk hardcore style is defo spreading everywhere but i like the differences the northern scenes keep.
if it was the same everywhere it would be boring but i think its right the people in yorkshire enjoy the style thats been in there raves for years.

Loads of people round my end are into Uprising, they ask me and I'll say yeh I like hardcore, but most of the younguns don't really know what uprising is, give them a diz tape and they'll call it uprising...
I don't mind the regular DJs Paul-O (one for you evel) spinner, topgroove etc, its the MC's that piss me off. Natts & JD etc are like legend up here though...
It's a way of life...
