The only thing new about Hardcore these days is the 'Acid' sopund comming out of Freeform which is keeping the scene alive. Most trancy Hardcore is getting a bit stale now.

Freeform is the most trance-like style of hardcore there is...

Bee is spot on here. Why do people constantly have to try and undermine others' hard work. By all means be critical if you feel the need but at least try and be constructive roo. constructive

No style of music would survive if unchanged for 15 years - especially dance music.

I was around when 'Hardcore' started and have been through the ups and downs the scene has gone through. One thing i can safely say is that without the various changes (including the bad ones) it went through, i'd be listening to something totally different now.

The early 90's was a BIG raving time for me. Would i go back? Would i chuff!

I'm over 30 and i avoid Old skool events like the plague! been there, done that, got the tapepack! To me it's just that - OLD! I love the era, the tunes, the memories but it's in my past - i don't want it to be the present as well.

I wouldn't go to the cinema to see a 15 year old film
I don't wear 15 year old clothes
I don't have a 15 year old girlfriend (:P)

Why bring back something that went away years ago? I understand people wanting Old skool Hardcore, but as an old hand i prefer to look forward. So the current hardcore sound isn't to everybody's liking - BIG DEAL! Plenty of people like it.

I prefer Burger King to McDonalds
Adidas to Puma
Numark to Technics
etc etc......
Doesn't give me a right to tell other people what they should choose does it?

Listen to what you like, don't listen to what you don't like - hardly rocket science is it?

Hmm you mean the sound that has been around since the acid house days... hmm... It's been in hardcore since the very beginning F.F.S. The point I was trying to put across was that making tracks in (insert date) style is not original.

KFC and BK aren't comparable IMO because of the different menus but yeah they both rock and Mcdon sucks. I did prefer double bacon cheese burgers 10 years ago though... The bacon was crispier and they weren't so bloody cheesy.

thats what all of todays producers are doing after all? its just a shame that

Totally agree with you there mate, fortunatly it's only a small minority who come on here to moan about the music.

I actually prefer the late 90's hardcore sound, but I'm happy with the new music and I'm just as interested in hardcore as I've always been. Music must evolve, as technology advances so does the music, that goes for any genre.

i agree with the fact that hardcore wouldnt be hardcore if it hadnt of changed. infact, its because its changed that it has allowed people who aint particularly keen on the sound now to look back on their pefered style and appreciate it. i know this aint quite the same, but lets say you hear a record like um.... i dunno...... crazy love (any mix of it)

absolute bomb in all sets, but that m,akes a problem. people got bored of it so eventualy the djs moved away from that tune. then, when they put it on again, its almost as good as it first was (and a whole lot better if you have just spent 2 months listening to crap)

because we dont hear the old skwl as the mainstream, we appreciate it more when we do hear it. infact, you probably find that people pefer oldskool after it was taken out of the spot light as it was not picking up any unwanted baggage (i.e people who suck up to the music to make money alone)

Why is there a music form called Nu-Skool, which I'm told is a modern take on the older style? Surely the reason people are making Nu-Skool is because is has all the elements of the 'Original' sounds but with a few tweeks?

I have been told that in some Old Skool sets DJ's are mixing in Nu-Skool and getting away with it as it sounds similar?

It's called hardcore breaks. I don't really get what your point is? Some labels are making stuff that sounds like oldskool so what?

Bulby you need to chill me old mucker as I am only submitting and opinion.
It's good to talk and question the scene as it stimulates debate. The majority of people are in agreement with you and not me which is fantastic so RELAX!

Why do people take offense everytime someone dares questions their preference of music?

ITS ALL GOOD PEOPLE SO SMILE AND BE HAPPY

Ahem...

You are not daring to question our musical preference, you are making a negative generalization based on no real fact and merely arguing for the sake of arguing.

Bulby is perfectly justified in putting you in your place. He knows what he's talking about.

Furthermore, if you have such a problem with the scene not playing old school, make an old school mix or produce an old school track! Don't just bitch and moan and expect people not to react to your statements.

Hypocrite...

I don't think it's a question of taking offence mate.

It's more to do with people getting tired of the same old 'New hardcore/trancy bollocks/Breeze & Styles/Softcore is/are shit' argument that we've heard 100's of times here.

Trouble is, when somebody such as yourself comes along (who appears to have the mental capacity to form a constructive sentence) - you get lumped in the same category as the rest of the 'If it's not from pre-1995 it's not hardcore' brigade!

What are you talking about? I simply stated I didn't understand what you were getting at in your post... Not the topic the post you made prior to mine. Chill...? I never got angry.

I'm not questioning your tastes in music mate I love oldskool. Only point I even put across in this topic was that bringing back old sounds isn't gonna bring originality to the scene.
