I don't believe that at all, for the last 7 or so years it has become a farce and a political voting ground, nothing more than a shambles to be quite honest with you.
Do the Scandinavians really like each others songs so much, or do they just like each other?
Is it pure coincidence certain countries (lets say Greece & Cyprus) insist on giving each other 12 points every year no matter how bad the song is?
I think the Eurovision has to be looked upon as a very jokey/camp event and nothing more. The only prize being the country that wins gets to host the circus acts the following year.
Great now I'm suffering from eurovisiopsephology!

Heh, for the last 7 years or so UK has got lousy points, coincidence? Dont blame the game if the songs suck :P I mean no wonder UK havent won if you dont even take the contest semi seriously.

I'm not Scandinavian so i wouldnt know, but speaking on Nordic Countries and our neighbours, I liked Norway, Iceland (humour value) and Estonia. Shame the latter 2 didnt get to the finals. But i didnt like the songs for their singers countries geographical region. If i would have voted, i would have voted for Germany in the finals though.

Ok, that i have to admit, they always give each other 12 points, hehe. Though wouldnt know for what reason, but seems pretty obvious. Havent ever effected the end count though.

No, we've had lousy points for the past 51 years, and generally lousy songs, but sometimes we enter songs that deserve far more points/votes than they get. It's only got more political I think in the last 7 years than it had been previously.
However at 2 past Eurovisions the UK entered the one and only Sir Cliff Richard (260 Million + world sales), and even he didn't manage to win! Yet when the singles were released (the same songs he sang at Eurovision) they topped pretty much most European charts.......Work that one out!

^^ Never heard of him (i usually forget the EV artists, as i'm not that much into the music. I like the show, the music is "ok"), but donno, maby the track needed to be listened few times to "get into it".
Also would like to add to that regional thing. I have always disliked songs from the mediterranean countrys, they always make those über-cheesy-slimy-love-songs, which i dont like.
Oh and we have also always got lousy points, if i remember right in 2000 Nightwish (with "Sleepwalker") would have entered the competition by the public televoting, but the stupid judges overruled it. This was the first year here when the participant was chosen only by the public votes.

HAHAHA I wish I was Whispering! I wish I didn't know who Cliff Richards is!
I enjoyed Lithuania's entry, and Germanys was actually the best vocally/musically, but Lithuania made me laugh most.
I cringed when our Daz started bowling it out on stage arms flying in the air! That was deadfull!!!
Makes you think really doesnt it. England isn't a very popular country :(

The Eurovision is a joke, it always has been though, well to us english it always has. What was cool was the fact we made a drinking game out of it in the college bar. Everytime Terry Wogan spoke we downed some of our drinks, and shouted Wogan which annoyed the 'serious' viewers. Thing is we got plastered by nine, and it was a good night even though I wasn't slightly interested in the actua lsongs
