If not my computer will have to do as the medium haha
Thats the only way the scene will grow. I say go do it! Nothing ventured, nothing gained! And no doubt you will have a blast!

aye defo go for it if you think theres a demand in your area, one thing though i'd try and ask advice of someone who's ran a sucessful night before you start.
if your serious try and get to no as many ravers as you can, as at least at first your mates and word of mouth is gonna be your main customer base. Your already using the net which will get word arouns some more.
and if you lose money on first couple events thats not necessarily game over, if everyones had a good time more and more people will keep coming back to future events when they hear how good it was.
thats business sometimes you need to make a loss to in future make a profit.
another option if you've got a lot of mates who'd dj for free is just book out a hall, dont even bother with big names get everyone goin to chip in enough to cover costs and just have a party playing the music you love.

^^^^^ I'd just add to Chris' post in that, don't even think about it as a business! Just do it for fun at first..... don't get thinking about making money, or even making money back. Otherwise when you lose money rather than make it you won't get down, and 90% of events will make a loss on their first 1 or 2 events unless they've got something special happening, or they can throw ALOT of money at it.
The 2 big nights in Manchester pretty much started this way. Well, I can't speak for Totally Lost It, but it certainly started small. Missing started as a free party, being held in dodgy warehouses and other venues round Manchester. It built a good following, and then they moved to a legal venue.... or rather TWO legal venues and merged them to get one of the most diverse nights in Manchester (not that it wasn't diverse before!).
So anyway, yeah...... start small, get a feel and build on what you see!

that party looks so good, a real diverse lineup if i ever saw one.
can listen some old hardcore, before hittin the psy trance room and even live bands and reggae
i really need to plan one cos midweek is funnily enough the easiest time for me to rave, just trying to find someone to head up with.
might actually ask jester about it.
but aye your right underloop just have fun, i was only trying to say the business side as i no people who've lost money when they booked big names for first couple events and didnt get enough to cover costs.

Not sure about your area but in Aus, Sydney in particular our scene is starting to really come alive and we have some great up and coming Dj's like Reazn, Antix, Implex(I think is a Sydney boy) and plus we just had impact move down under plus we have the support of some of the greatest Dj's(in my opinion) like my favourite Dj Suae....
On another note i rather enjoy the size of the scene myself, i like the idea that every single person isnt in love with hardcore...makes me feel special lol
Yeah i agree with FriedRice, Sydney's scene is coming alive, and the local talent is really coming into maturity and fruition, and theres a rave on most weekends of the year... its just a matter of choosing which to go to...

most of ya should think urselves luck, in western australia there's a severe lack of hardcore, altho the scene is starting to pick back up again...
every now and the we get an international come thru, and i've been lucky enough to see th likes of breeze, styles, brisk, stormtrooper, scott brown, dougal, hixxy (missed storm) and was even lucky enough to meet some of them, and give scott a lift back to his hotle room!
the main problems here are:
a) pendulum - they're from here and stil live here and hav been a massive driving force in making dnb almost commercial, and most of the dnb crowd over here either hav no idea what harcore is, or slag it off profusely! dont get me wrong, pendulum are incredibly talented, but they're hurting the hardcore over here :S
b)isolation - we are THE MOST ISOLATED state capitol city in the world, bar none! hence, lots of ppl cbf coming here... when the big raverbaby crew tour was going on, they were over east, but missed us completely :S
caliga - i was going to organise an event at one stage about 4months ago i had EVERYTHING organised except a venue :S and i mean everything, including bouncers, water, djs, everything. but a lot of places aren't happy to let u hire their venues all night with blaring loud music etc etc.
al i can say is, best of luck :D and i hope ur event goes better then mine almost did :P

Same here in Oxford definite lack of hardcore. tons of drum and bass nights but have to travel to brum to get a decent night raving. Big shame cos a few ppl might go if they were a bit closer cos no one wants to drive
