well, shit ones wouldnt be any help would they? 
some are designed to grip the vinyls more than others, try lookin for some with slightly raised logo's or somthing on them, rather than just pure smooth slipmats. there might even be slipmats specificly designed for scratching.

you don't want a slipmat that grips the record, you want a mat that allows the record to slip...hence slip-mat

Start collecting you'll find some wicked designs, I say any slipmat is enough for scratchin but I only buy Technics...

What is that material of that plastic/paper disk that goes under your slipmat. Gives it an incredibly easy slip.

i can't scratch worth a fcuk but i try and thats what i always use make life more easier (but still impossible)
