Happy Hardcore has an older type sound to it, more bouncy and very pointless girly lyrics that make no sense and the newer hardcore has a more trancey feel to it and heavier bass etc etc, this hardcore @ the moment is the best ever, i will substitute nothing for it!

Hardcore = Wide genre containing: Happy hardcore (91-2007 [think everything you hear on the HHC.com radio chanel]), Freeform (Think "acid-trance-hardcore"), Gabber (Dutch Hardcore [think "evil hardcore", lots of distortion, like a guitar amp, evil vibes :P]), Makina (Spanish Hardcore, think "early 96 happy hardcore on meth," lots of bouncy vibes), and all of the goodies from noise/speed/death/terror/break-core genre.

Hardcore is the umbrella for all things hard ;)

Point of Note: This does not include hard dance, which club music, and does not count as hardcore

Yea I would agree, gabber is a sub category of hardcore. Hardcore is the top of the tier... :)
