Hey all!
I just finished the latest rendition of an oldschooly track that I've secretly been working on!
Please download it, and give me feedback! This is the first tune I've ever tried to really put effort into, and I'd like to know how I can improve it!

I like this mate, nice and bouncy in some places. I reckon a hardcore loop might give the tune a bit more of a "oldskooly" approach. All in all nice tune for your first main effort!!!

So more of a breakbeat, then? And thank you!

Not bad for a first effort.
The main part has no real flow to it....Once the distorted melody started, I thought I was in for something big.
It's hard when making a tune as so many different ideas pop into your head resulting in a 'different' kind of tune that changes constantly. Either take the piano out or include it more fully into the song.
Sit and think of the kind of song you want, write it down if needs be and stick to it.
That low bass melody gets very repetitive too.
There's a lot of room for improvement....but that's the same for everything when you start. The more you work on things, the better you become and you'll soon find your own personal style for your songs.
The tune does nothing for me i'm afraid, doesn't really build up (Well it does- the instead of taking me on a 'trip', it seems to continue with samples being thrown in to make it differ).
Don't give up though!!
I'm certainly no expert on production but I'm tryin to give a constructive response instead of 'It's good' 'It's bad'.

Thanks for the ideas, Charco! I'm going to start working on it again Saturday, we'll see how it works. I would like to integrate the piano more, so I think I'll do that. Also, I agree that the baseline is repetative. I'll be fleshing it out more over the weekend :)
