From 1994 to 1999, I lived in a hardcore world. I lived, breathed and dreamed happy hardcore. For five years I spent at least 2 hours a day on the decks and never watched any TV, I bought every copy of Dream and To the core, built up a record collection of over 400 tunes (everything from toy town to Heart of gold and discoland to Follow the sun), I regularly went to Vibealite @ venue 44 and the pleasuredome and down to the sanctury for Helter Skelter, United dance and hardcore heaven.
At some point in 99, I dont know why but I drifted away from the scene, I stopped DJing, lost contact with all the friends I had made and sold all my vinyl. I havent listened to any harcore at all since about 2000.
Yesterday whilst buying a sandwich before the 6 hour drive home I had to do, I was looking for a cd to listen to and stumbled over united in hardcore...........I havent stopped listening since!!!
Listening to the 3 CDs (especially Slipmatt) brought so many great memories flooding back and put a great smile on my face. It has inspired me to start DJing again.
I always loved DJing, but when I fell out of love with hardcore, I didnt feel passionately enough about any other type of music to play it. But I am gonna start playing hardcore again (I wish i hadnt sold all that vinyl!!!)
Listening to the Dougal CD, hardcore seems to have matured alot since I left, in fact there is little difference between hardcore and the commercial dance music they play in my local clubs. The big piano breaks seem to have gone but been replaced with a more grown up almost trance like edge.
Are people still using vinyl in hardcore or is it all CDs now? I know my friend who is a house DJ says they all use CDs and he is replacing all his vinyl. If so is there any where you can download hardcore singles?
Anyway, sorry if that bored you but just had to get that off my chest!!! Any help answering my questions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Vinyl is still used by alot of people, and so are CD's. You can get vinyl from loads of places on the internet, no to mention this sites shop.
Downloads:

Same here, all I did was listen to DNB & Hardcore and from when I first started to going to proper raves (not club nights) in 1996 Hardcore took over my first love DNB as my rave & music of choicequote: I bought every copy of Dream and To the core,
Mainly Dream for me and a few Eternity magazines but I stopped once they got political (I've still got them all)quote: At some point in 99, I dont know why but I drifted away from the scene
Me too but I know why I drifted away because the music, too me, sounded stale (maybe it was over kill of Hardcore on my ears that did it)
However unlike yourself I've still travelled to at least one Hardcore do a year, maybe I've never out grown getting excited about Scott Brown, Sy or Brisk on a flyer and I must admit I've started to seek more Hardcore tunes and mixes online and I've made plans to go to a few more hardcore nights.
I'm just glad that there were enough people to keep the faith so guys like us had somewhere to come back to

Is there a site where I would be able to download and replace my whole back catalogue (obviously I expect to pay for it) as the sites you suggested seem good but a quick search showed they dont seem to have everything I want

I doubt it. I'm not sure if any d/l site has a hardcore back catalogue, they only tend to deal with recent releases with the odd old one thrown in for fun.

Beats24-7 used to have a nice mp3 back cat not sure if it's still running but just give it a google mate. Still prefer vinyl to mp3 tho I don't think I would ever swap over :)
