To play out i wouldn't put more than 2-4 tracks on a CD.
To be honest, i'd still prefer never to use CD's at all but a lot of places only have CD decks - and i'm not so big a star that i can insist on clubs having Decks!

The fact that appeals to me, is that I can here I tune I like, find it on the internet, download it and be playing it in minutes, rather than having to wait for vinyl to be delivered.
And there is also the fact as someone else said, that a lot of places only have CD decks nowadays

I like to use cds to make my own scratch samples, put unreleased things on them, and back up classic vinyls so they retain their worth =P

i was tempted purchase a couple of these but then i thought... where do you get all the hardcore tunes from to mix them? most tunes are already mixed into the cd's, i only no a couple of scott brown albums where the cd is designed so that you can fiddle with it urself, can ne1 explain how u get round it?

The problem I have with that is (im not blamin you or havin a go at you - just seen other ppl do it) the fact that sum1 can go on kazza or woteva ppl use now, download the tune for nothing, whack it on cd and start mixin. thats y im not a fan of ppl usin laptop/pcs to mix. However...some tunes I want (usually hard trance) I cant find anywhere on vinyl, so wud av to get it on cd, thats y Id like to av a cd deck with two turntables

the thing that really changed me over from vinyl to cd's are the pioneer cdj 800 series.
You cant say that they arent wikked!.
I still use a lot of vinyl but im really moving towards only digital, you can just do so much more and esentially you are still manipulating the tracks just like vinyl.
But im not gonna start a which is better cd or vinyl war (please not another one).

Yeah i agree with that I like to use both vinyl & cd. They both have their pros n cons. If a killer track was on cd or mp3 only ur not gonna pass up on the chance to own it are u? With places like Imo and Nu Energy selling both mp3 and vinyl there is room for both!

Personally I think records are much betta! CD's don't last as long and I find it much easier findin records than singles of hardcore music on CD! Even if you are rippin the scene off and file sharin ya can find the sounds but you get bits of other tracks as their usually ripped in2 their computers from mixes!!! Also gud CD turntables usually cost more than descent turntables.

It's so if you wanna mix something off the same CD, you have a duplicate ;)
Personally I put one track per CD... makes it a lot easier.

i just like bein able to play songs on cds that i dont hav/cant get on vinyl. that being said, i still love my vinyl :D
and if i'm goin to mix on cds, i buy my singles. dont steal music from the producers ppl! if ppl steal it, they'll stop making it! (tho highly doubt that)

CD's are a blessing and a curse, now you can carry around literally thousands of tracks in a small package, but the biggest problem I have is that you literally have thousands of tunes on for the most part badly labeled promo CD's.
When I was vinyl only I would get to the party / club / whatever have a listen to the other DJ's, check the vibe, get into the music etc, and start to figure out to what I think would be some good tunes and then arrange my records so I can get to what I think is good straight away. Can't do that with CD's, for two reasons, they are in their little pockets and you can't re-arrange them and the fact that there are anywhere from 1-12 tracks on a CD means your not dealing with singles.
So you get to the club and end up playing only your new stuff because you can't quickly find the other stuff you want to play. To overcome this I normally make myself a little list of tracks and the CD that they are on before my set, if I want to play a tune during my set and I don't know where it is, whip out the old sheet and find it :)
Well thats my 4.5 cents

I put about 10-13 on a CD. Im so used to practicing its not that big of a deal to remember which song is in what CD anymore.
CD's are totally economical. I stand by em. When im ballin' in hard cash like all you vinyl jockeys ill be sure to pick me up some 1200's :)
