I fear I was misunderstood. What I was saying wasn't just about matching beats at the end of the tracks, altough in some cases it's good. I mean the older style of mixing that you used to find on the old Hardcore Heavens, and mixing like Stu Allan used to do. Not (and I'll reapet that...that) the style that Vibes tries to mix, I mean good timing ect.
If you downloaded my last "happy hardcore" mix then you'll understand what I mean.

Well, od style mixing is ok, but I like to hear wierd things. Like, slow the record down to make the vocals sound all deep and warped, or have 2 melodies playing together to make it sound unharmonic, or two lyrics played at the same time. Just crazy styles. it gets boring just hearing the same mixing the whole way through a set/cd mix. I dont want to be able to tell when one song ends and the other begins.

Think mortis is spot on what he says! the old mixes were really good! I don't think u could gat away with it today with the tracks that get released! it just wouldn't be the same! theres to much of the same tunes to do it so the effect wouldn't work!

Listening now, it's really good. Much better than I thought it was going to be.

*grabs popcorn and waits for Mr K*
ha! how did I miss this one
you do realize that most of the happy2bhardcore cds are mixed by *drum roll* a pc? if you ever heard frolic live you would cringe, you should cringe at most of his mixes anyway because even with a pc helping you can hear f*ck ups in his cds!
me thinks you should listen to some real, or atleast decent djs.
don't get me wrong he's a nice guy and and did lots for the happy scene in north america, but he is horrible as a dj. his mixes are usually like at -2 speed on a technic and even at that slow it sounds like shoes in a dryer (if you don't know what I'm talking about go try it out)
sorry for dissapointing you guys
and as far as mixing goes, yeah I still try to mix most tunes like mortis suggested. I hate playing a song all the way through, I also hate most sing-a-long tunes...mainly due to people like frolic who just play the same type of song one right after the other.
mix it up and keep people guessing, it's much more fun that way as well. do a couple short mixes, then let one song play most of the way through and do a couple more shorties.
this is for the shorties

1. Why should you give a **** what a few people on a board think? If you like it, do it.
2. I think mixing the outro into an intro should be kept for trance cos its ****in boring. Its supposed to be HARD and FAST after all. Mash it up good style.
3. 'Old Style Mixing' WTF?!?! Happy 2b Hardcore is a generic boring compilation, mixed at -3% . **** that, Id rather hear a semi-sloppy mix than just beats for 2 mins between tracks. Unskilled and ****in boring.
4. There isnt a four.

Case and point that this works: NLT -- The Dragons Romance. Not quite crammed, but def. not drawn out. Perfect mix, imo
