thats true...
Also when a song is building up to a climax or the main body, the mc can help build up the hype, then when the beat hits it's lovely ^^

It annoys me if they ruin good bits as Smoogie said or if they chat over other vocals

I'll put in 2 cents (of the USD$ persuasion )
Last event (Ultraworld 2), breakcore. One MC, all he did was introduce DJ's, got the croud pumpin at the begginin and end of sets. To get the croud REALLY going they contracted fire poi spinners, go-go dancers, and had a KILLER laser show.
2 events before that (Bizzounce 3, haloween show sans gabber, I was dissapointed ), DnB/Breaks. 6 MCs, and they ROCKED. They even did a hiphop show, and I have to admit, they were really good. 3 stages, second stage, some killer DnB. MC with hip dysplasia (Dozah? I can't remember, but INSANELY GOOD) rocked the bleepin house.
Event between those two: Glo. No MC's. Mainly hard house and trance, breaks.
ALL WERE GOOD EVENTS, here is why:
Only certain genres and only on certain stages should have MCs. Its up to the producer and promoter of the show to get it right.

Some MC's are annoying if they suck, but for example: Whizzkid, Storm, MArley etc, do good clear MC and make the track better, say at the beginning of teh chorus, they will hype it. I also like MC on its own though, try Sparky, Wizard or Casper, they do some decent solo tracks.

yeah its annoying if they talk over the good bits, but when they can build up the crowd its awesome, but i dont think theyre always necessary, especially if its a quality dj who knows how to pump up the crowd anyway

What if there were no MC's at HTID? It wouldn't be the same at all.

Apart from a couple like Livelee and Evenson Allen, I can't stand most of them.

Despite the fact that i'm from Yorkshire, i don't see MC's as gods who have an almost biblical importance - with DJ's merely providing backing music to help them show off their amazing prowess!
But, i do like good MC's - one who knows the music well enough will enhance any set.
Minimalism all the way for me.

I think they are decent during the empty parts of tunes.
I really do like some of the chat's they come up with to match tunes.
For example, "When I see your face it's like Im on a high...."
some of them go pretty well with parts of hardcore tunes.

i've not been out for ages listening to UK hardcore but in my day it wasn't about vocals in a track! suppose it would ruin the style now, because its all about vocals, but I've always loved MC's, they always get the crowd going even on a sh*te track!
