Now that was interesting!!!! I have atempted many times to study the birth of the scene and at last I am one step closer. Saw a few clips. Back in '89 the haircuts were different (and i could swore to have seen an undercut) but the Ravers were still there with the wistles and horns and bright colours! Shame it is all 'comercialised' now otherwise I would attend one...

quote: With convoys of cars all tuned to 102.5FM the parties quickly grow in size and reputation. Almost every week empty buildings in and around the Blackburn area are decended on by thousands of ravers. Sett End, Bubble Factory, Unit 7, Pump Street and many more abandond buildings, warehouses and even an old abattoir are used for parties over the coming months.
It's a shame Blackburn isn't like that now.

I've still got some BPM shows on video! (the Hardcore ones) it was a good show back in the day! and I also remember when the Hitman and Her shows started doing Hardcore nights way back in 91! (they were funny Pete Waterman hosting a show with hardcore on all night) but this is well worth a read for anyone whos a bit younger than me! doesn't mention 808 State on The Other Side of Midnight program in 88 (months before the track Pacific State was released) remember that like yesterday!

(reagarding Murray Beeston) as mentioned in your link 1988!
was listening to an old hardcore tape yesterday and the m.c was actually saying 'respect to the Murray Beeston who passed away' and saying that he had done loads for the hardcore scene i think it was an hardcore event in the late 90's!
Cheers Chris!
That was a good read I remember the good old 'Rave'scene and am proud to say i never dabbled with E's back in the day i was to scared!
I remember wearing the illuminous socks worn 'odd' of course and i had several 'Aceed' badges!
I have loadsa 'flyers from some of the early 'Raves'
My brother let me have them and there's some corker's like 'Fantazia' and 'Dreamscape'
