Cheesy and UK hardcore is generally looked down upon nowadays in Chicago. I get a few small bookings here and there playing more industrial flavored stuff, but that's about it.

Right? Weak "Hard Dance" Scene... I'm trying to get Nu Energy USA to hook up with Gramaphone records... Shit, if they'll hire me I'll order for them!

Um, Drum N' Bass (Bass by the Pound) is pretty heavy in the scene and Hip House (Terry Mullan), Booty House, and Just like Acid Techno... There's a couple kids that play UK shit, like DJ Elekid, but he perfers Hard House... I don't know if you've ever heard of "Source Productions" (or "Delta 9") but they are the main Hardcore promoter in Chicago... Back in like 2000, Sy & Unknown were here and sometimes Cloudskipper or Reese come, or Scott Brown comes to Bloomington, IL but I don't have a car to go sooo... Hardcore, I guess, but I wouldn't know, has died down... I'm a noob so I don't really know what's going on or even if the music I choose is around... Although I did chat with Elekid and he's like yeah I have a handful of those records (my collection)... Basically I don't get to enough shows. But Raving is not just Hardcore, I would say! But I'm not about to switch styles, I love Hardcore too much! Really with the Bass and shit it's hard to tell what they're playing... I trainspot but too fast to see what the records are... I may take residency at a Gay Club called @mosphere but it's a little shakey because like I said weak "Hard Dance" scene or I just don't know Raving enough...

Good luck with that, if Grammaphone is anything like it used to be. When I first moved to Chicago from New England, everyone said that Grammaphone was the place to be. When I went there and asked for the hardcore section, the clerk literally laughed at me. He then directed me toward the D&B "new releases", most of which I had picked up in Boston 6 months before.
You should get on the Midwest EDM forum, if you haven't already. Lots of Chicago hard heads on there, but I don't know how many are into the UK vocal sound.

I know hip house used to carry hardcore, you should try there
I don't see hardcore going over too well at a gay club, they do play pretty damn good house at them though =P
unfortunately the midwest is filled with lots of drama from promoters...it is nice to see some old people still around (delta 9, phantom 45, wildchild) so there is still hope for harder music styles.
if you're wanting to get bookings start showing up to events that have harder genres of music playing and hand out some demos.

Good advice. You could also get your demos online and advertise them on some midwest based forums.
