being more into the cheesey/commercial style, i never listened to kevs mix, as i new it was more 'specialist.' i listened to it the other day and it blew me away. some feedback put me off listening, but from a creative and imagination point of view it was sublime. not every track hit me, but 90% of it did! especially track 20 (arkitech) with the muslim type prayer chant throughout. who'd think of that? genius. i even heard shades of VANGELIS on PCP! i think with his style, you have to listen at a 'deeper level' can't wait for HCH4

Ah, I see you've discovered freeform...Kevin Energy's great at mixing.
But honestly, if you like freeform, some of Sharkey's mixes are absolutely incredible.
The Bonkers 15 mix is awesome with Sharkey and Marc Smith, and the Bonkers 16 mix is amazing as well.
By the way, PVC (i think what you were talking about) is by Eryk Orpheus, and has been released on vinyl...so you should definitely check that out :).

In the last year I have really been getting into Freeform and see it more than just 'Hard Trance'
I have noticed that Freeform mixes do have some Bouncy stuff in them as DJs like Sharkey and Kevin Energy like to give a mixture of differnt styles which makes the mixes more fun to listen too, the mixxing works well. IMO Sharkey's mixes have owned alot of the later Bonkers and after a listen I feel amazed!
At one time I was shy of Sharkey's mixes but have really gotten into the stuff from the Freeform labels and people such as Marc Smith, The Arkiteck, AC Slater and of corse Sharkey and Kevin Energy!

Freeform is anything but just Hard Trance. Glad to see some people are getting into it, it's the much more exciting side of Hardcore... the sky's the limit.
Kev's HH3 mix is brilliant, lots of newer UK Freeform and NuNRG, ranging from bouncey and driven to the more traditional acidic stuff. If you want to hear more the traditional style and some FiNRG (Freeform from Finland), check out his HH2 and HH1 mixes, both fantastic (HH1 the better), and like Leto suggested, anything by Sharkey, or Marc Smith too.

theres so much room to experiement with freeform. not just with mixing but the production side of things to.
love start a mix of with vocal, happy, ravey stuff and moving into fast, baging, driving freeform!
production wise, with freeform, there really is no limits to what you can do, which cant be said for other sub-genres of hardcore!

On the other hand... When i listen to MOST (not all!!) UK Hardcore, and all the crap coming out of raverbaby at the moment! i sit there and think... "Pfttt... WTF is this CRAP! Probly toke them 5mins to put together!"
CUSE ITS THE TRUTH... And alot of producers feel the same (just won't admit it - cuse they make it themselfs  )
I could make a UK Hardcore track that sounds simuler in a matter of 24 hours!
Thats not to say its not good ^^^ As alot of my "unexposed" tracks are UK HardCore and do have that same element to them!
The point is its not "Talented" and evan we know that!
Your Stanard UK HardCore is a pot of piss to put together! FACT!
Its a shame for a genre... cuse some UK HardCore is ****ing talented as ****!!! is just let down by the other 70% odd of the subgenre lol!
Freeform Tho... Now Your ****ing With The Big Boys
As Someone said "The Sky Is The Limit!"
And you'll find some producers spend WEEKS on there work! fine tuning all the instrements and VST's all the sounds involed in just ONE F*CKING TRACK!!!
And Mixing it all down well perfectly, to make sure everything sounds perfect at the right time!!
^^^ trust me... from EXP... When you have tons of melodys and sounds in one track - Its Almost IMPOSSABLE To Get Perfect!

Hands down, best experimental hardcore producer is Oli G.
Maybe Lee UHF too...but Oli G is amazing...
