Booyah! Get with the Vagabond collections ;)

You don;t necessarily need to buy speakers, as long as you've got any form of speakers most are good enough for just listening, you only really need to worry about speakers if you're going into production or want exceptional sound.

If you're not mixing then you'll only need 1 Direct drive turntable and a run-of-the-mill mixer, again just for listening to vinyl you don't need anything flash or expensive, jsut go with what you can afford.

haha, well, it was YOUR mix (vagabond tribute), that introduced me to the best producer :)

why do i need a mixer btw? thought i just needed an amp ;o

any suggestions on a setup? i really have no idea on whats half decent...

i mean, i have money, so i dont mind paying a bit extra for something which is gona make that slight difference in sound quality, and wont break down (like some shitty goodmans thing or whatever :D)

You can use a mixer, amp, or just a home stereo if you like.

As long as the table's outs are connected to some sort of medium that can send sound to it's speakers.

If you are just using them to listen to records, I suggest finding the right stereo reciever with all the right connections you need (ie. rca inputs and outs, etc).

They'll be pretty damn shit.........for mixing........BUT.......If you really only want to listen to the records then they'd be OK. No guarantees on the quality of the output from the turntables, it'd most likely be very loud and staticy.

Also, the vast majority of normal amps or speaker systems only have the red and white RCA plugs and don't have the ground link that mixers have for phono input from turntables, this will result in a buzz-hum in quiet parts of tracks.

if you can afford it get used technics 1200s...you'll never have to upgrade again

here you can get them as cheap as 600$ (300 pounds?) a pair

if you can't afford that get USED shitty decks like gemini XL500s or Stanton str8-80s

DO NOT buy them new because you will want to upgrade within a year and you will lose tons of money...if you get them used theyre the same except you won't lose money when you sell them afterwards

any speakers are fine when starting out but when you really want to be as good as possible and want to record perfect mixes I recommend getting studio monitors

since the response is pretty much perfectly flat you will improve your EQing alot (what you do will sound alot better on other systems...) and since you can hear every frequency much better you'll notice you beatmatch quicker and can EQ far better

but this is off topic so whatever

http://www.djkit.co.uk/acatalog/decks_technics.html

SL-1210MK5 - 395 quid ;o

so.... i need one or two turntables... a mixer (how much is a decent one, and what manufacturer is good; something like a 79quid behringer?).... an amp (i have an old hardman/kardon 330c at home, which i dont know if i need to upgrade)... and some speakers (Skytec SKY150 72quid a pair any good?)
