Well it had to happen, after getting rather annoyed with Tiscali capping my "unlimited" broadband account, I decided not to pay them in protest. Bastards cut me off in a little protest of their own.

Arse.

So for now I'm on 56k pay as you (a 1p per minute pay as you go virgin! every perverts dream), so you wont see me around as much due to my connection moving slower than Stephen Hawking with a wheel clamp.

I've had a couple of people mention this to me.

Did they send you a letter about your usage during peak times or just go with the your using to much bandwidth approach.

unfortunatly thats what u get with these "unlimited" broadband accounts...

they all have a "fair useage" policy, wich basicly says..

"we owe you nothing", so when u sign up, they would be perfectly within there rights to cap u if u used over 1mb a day...

they are crafty buggers.

I have blueyonder broadband there unlimited usage mean unlimited,

I'll probably get flamed for admitting this but i am hooked up to a newsgroup which i use for HDTV series ripped off the TV not the box sets (which i dont believe is illegal, correct me if i am wrong) and hundreds of livesets all of which d/l at 1000+ Kbps some months i have d/l crazy amounts and never once have they contacted me about my usage

Telewest's blueyonder broadband is the daddy

Shit...me and my soon to be flatmates have decided to go with Tiscali broadband as it "unlimited". Can I ask how much were you downloading a week/month on average so that Tiscali started wanting to cap your connection. Or does anyone know what is considered a breach of fair use policy?

Are you sure 2gb isn't actually your internet speed rather than the limit?

lol

if i had TWO GIGABIT internet.. well... the road would be rippin in half as the data came down so fast lol

as for "what is considered a breach" .. well.. thats totally up to ur ISP. basicly thay can do what ever they like, within limits, cos they have a reputaion to keep ect.

id imagine Mortis was ripin the whole net for all it was worth to get em to start capping him...

i am curious to know just how much was download in say 1 month/week ect

I have Orange BB and it isn't capped, up to 8MB connection for £18 a month unlimited. Well never told it was unlimited but i have downloaded over 60GB off *******s in a month plus another 40-50GB general internet usage so like 100-110GB and never had any e-mails/calls whining.......
