If a bunch of kids acted the way you guys in the UK describe in my neighborhood, they would get the sh*t beat out of them.
I guess drinking here is taken a little more seriously. For me it's a social thing when I drink, but there are always the group of a**holes around town but they are a**es whether they are drunk or not drunk.
I think starting to drink at an older age is much safer than youger. Cuz by then you have matured at least to a stage where you can understand what drinking should be about and make more mature and reasonable decisions.

They will soon relise that whenever they drink around this arae the cops take their drink and then they would only drink inside! The streets are then safer and the won't get drunk as much and there fore would enjoy the clubbig experice when older rather than ruined it by getting drunk to young! End of...

Quite right but here in the UK the authorities frown upon 'Vigilanties' more than the arseholes they beat up....
although, having said that, a mate of mine with a 'chav' problem was advised by a Police Officer
to make sure not to be seen if he decided to sort out the problem his own way.

NZ is pretty much the same as the UK, from reading these posts. 14 15 year old lil bros in there hip hop hats, with mega atitudes geting smashed and causing trouble. Its funny if ya stear them in the eye for long enough they wana crack ya. Alchohol is the pits when people cant handle it.

I thought I might contribute something that no one else has mentioned. Who says that those kids in the park were chavs anyway? At the age of 15/16 I used to get pissed in the park and I'm NOT a chav, and neither were a few of my mates that went up. In other words it is underage drinking but who says that just because they are drinking, they are going to cause crime, because I know I didn't when I got pissed.
To be honest the police probably knew full well that people were hanging there drinking every Friday but they don't deem it important enough to dedicate police time as no one is being harrassed.
Riniging the police probably pissed them off even more and made it more likely to hurt someone, rather than prevent it in my opinion.
All in all, it sounds like the police was called not to protect them from there own drunken selves, but rather to get one over them. To be honest if I could identify a certain a chav that would cause trouble, I would like the police to give him a good hiding, but if you don't know them, let me be and stay clear if you feel threatened as its just common sense

3) Smoogie phoned the police simply because he heard shouting(people having fun) on a big field of grass.. woo so bad. He probably wanted to walk past and was too scared he might get asked for a 'cigarette' or called a 'skater fag' or one of many things that chavs like to start trouble with, so he called the police on them, which imo is very sad. For all we know them kids probably wern't even gonna cause trouble, instead completely ignore him.
So basically he's a fag grass, that ****ed someones night up because he didnt have the bottle to walk past a group of 15 year olds.

I really don't think so, somehow, you don't know where I live! I walked through the rec. ground but after that where did I go? Are they going to throw bricks through my window?
