Hey, cool forum!
I'm Angus, 16yrs old and live in Sydney, Australia and have been making music of various styles for quite some time...
Anyway, realised I might want to check the net if there was any useful forums for the style im mainly interested in and found this one haha.
Anyway, a little about my gear I guess, I don't *DJ* as such mainly because I can't afford the gear, but I do compose all my own songs using Cubase SX3 loaded with various free VST's and some other programs.
My area of expertise is mainly synth melodies and my one main problem is my songs currently lack any kind of vocals whatso ever as my voice isn't exactly suited to singing!
SO yeah... Nice forum, and if anyone needs any specific samples relating to melodies or synths let me know, maybe a trade for some good vocals could be done!
But i've got one question. What is the exact BPM of hardcore (happy and normal if they're different) and hardstyle? I've been doing my happy hardcore ones in 160 so far and as far as I can tell hardstyle is 146.25 or something rediculous lol. Hope to share around valuable info so I can improve my songs further!

Not really lol Hardstyle can be around 160!
Hardcore is 170+
For "Happy Hardcore" IMO shouldn't be any lower then 180!
Gabba normally is best suited to 190!
Speedcore = anything over 220!

Hah nice, 146.25 was slightly tedious! Then why does my CD of Blutonium boy's hardstyle complation run at that!
Heh speedcore... that's something I oughta try out. Thanks for that!

Wrong.
Often Hardcore, Happy Hardcore and Gabber are played at 180+ but they are usually produced at about 170 BPM (+/- 3%)
Which is why most people play it at 180 BPM or so (+6% or so)
If you want stuff to get signed make it at 170 BPM, if you're making it for your own DJing and don't care about getting signed make it at 180 BPM

thats what i said isn't it lol
Notice the + on 170 lol (means "170 or over")
And not really... most the time "UK hardcore" is played at around 170-175
I very rarly hear 180+ sets anymore lol other then the classic "happy hardcore" sets!

All the stuff I do can be time shifted (including the samples) to any tempo so it's not really that important, but just as a guide. So 170 it is.

Ok, here's one of my songs... it's at 160... so yeah, whatever, no need to argue!
It's sorta my own style... heh never really adhered to a specific one, but it could easily be adapted to a happy hardcore song if I had the right vocal parts! Enjoy!

Are you arguing still about the bpm? Can't someone just let me know what they think of the track?

Yea sk8sim I agree there mate, I always produce 180+ bpm but if it gets slowed down it sounds worse than if it were to be sped up, I like hardcore at 190 bpm so if I get a mix etc I just speed it up anyway lol.
I like the tune mate, a little bit faster would be nice tho (190 hehe)

http://angus.botclips.net/haypyhard.mp3 Ok, what do people think of this? 180 this time, and modified. :D Will get this one right for that *u* concept thing, and for anyone else who wants to do a complation of unsigned songs. EDIT: Hmm well that imported like crap, please excuse the total lack of clarity?! I'll get some feedback from it and when i put it back online i'll makesure it doesn't distort!
