ive bin offered a pair of numark ttx1s for £350 as this lad wants to sell his. wud that be a good deal or wud u recommend i dont get them?

for 350 pounds you can get used technics 1200s which are much better and far more reliable
the mark I ttx-1s were super unreliable and overheated...the mark IIs are better but still inferior to tech12s in just about everything

never had a single problem with my ttxs. had them a while now.
i ve used 1210s, vestax decks, citronic, kam to name a few and personally the ttxs rock. they are more versatile with speed adjustments i mix hard house with hardcore and can speed up old skool to mix with new stuff. they sound clear as a whistle. i have alot of friends who have 1210s they play on my ttxs and always say they are good.

I must be one of those 'Noobs' who only likes 'lame' stuff
Despite Dain-Ja being a know it all who is always right, i'd recommend TTX-1's over ANYTHING.
Best decks i've ever owned (and i have a pair of technics that i don't use).
£350 for a pair in top condition is worth it IMO.
Saying that though - if you could get Technics for the same price, that'd be a good deal too.

dain-ja probably thinks there just decks with a built in bpm and a glowing light like some of my mates did. they can do so much more adjustable start and stop times. the adjustable torque settings make it nicer for scratching

TTX-1's are reliable, solid decks to use
But if you can find a pair of technics for the same price it might be a good idea to get used to those if your planning to spin at an event since all the clubs use them
If I had to compare, technics are just barely ranked higher than TTX-1's but both great decks.

i love my ttx and to know the man himself uses them it makes me even more happy.
only draw back is when i play out i am pants on 1210s lol

And that is a pretty big drawback!
It's easy to see why so many people go for 1210's when they're widely agreed to be the 'industry standard'.
Seen it said many times that if you can't use technics, you might as well give up on the idea of playing out!
Experience with Technics is a lot more important than it should be IMO

The accuracy of the pitch fader isn't good enough for holding a mix wihtout correcting
I have a friend that has a pair and you have to correct no matter what.
If you scratch then they're (maybe) better than 12s but for straight up tight mixing Tech12s are the best.

And that is the most important reason of all. Tech12s are setup everywhere because they're the best and they're reliable.
If you get used to something else you won't be as good playing out.
The question you have to ask is "do I plan on playing out?"
If you plan on it, get 12s
Otherwise get the cheapest, flashiest decks with the most torque and buttons.
Oh, and a screen that says the BPM

For reliability alone I'd recommend against TTX-1s since tehy cost the same as 12s.
12s will last you 20 years (I have one that is 12 years and still going as if it was new). They're fully serviceable and can take serious abuse.
DJdeals.com used to carry TTX-1s and tehy had so many problems with them that they stopped carrying them because it was too much of a hassle.

Indeed... I use Stanton T-80s and sometimes i'll pitch 2 tracks perfectly... go downstairs and make a cuppa... come back up and have to pitch them Again! lol Not loads, but just a little nudge like... bare in mind they where perfectly synced before.

Its what you get for buying cheep (£350) decks though... but they were my first set though so :) lol... I'll be splashing out on technics come the new year...
i also have my first set on the 1st of feb (Boy am i in for a treat then  ) So Looks like I'll be poping up htfr up town and have a little mess about on one... or atleast hog the one in virgin for a few hours all the same i guess  haha!

Never had a problem with my TTX's, they are fantastic. I have used Vestax and Technics, and IMO the TTX's beat them both. They do everything a Technics does only more and better. Usefull for a studio tool too, as you can do pitch shift and timestretch before sampling. But they do feel different to Technics, so if you are planning on playing out and peracticing towards that, its worth getting Technics as they are industry standard. I have had my TTX's for about 4 years - I had my Technics for about 11 years. So the only thing I cant be sure of is wether the TTX will stand the test of time. But like I said, no problems here, and still as good as new.
As for keeping in time with the pitch, I think the TTX is much more accurate - a lot of my sets require knowing what the speed difference is quickly before I mix the next track, and the digital readout is great for that - if it says 8.45%, thats what it is and it stays there. I use this feature extensively when pre-planning a mix, so there's definitely not a problem there.
