It's a very simple process. (At least with Acid 5 it is.)

1. Find/make a good kick. For slower, nu-style stuff, go for one that has a little less punch, but lasts longer. For speedcore or anything else, find one with a lot of punch that seems suitably staccato.

2. Add a ridiculous amount of distortion to it. For Bouncy techno or old school Rotterdam style, add a more moderate amount.

And congrats, you've made gabber kicks! Tweak levels or add chorus for extra fun!

Yeah. The trick to making it gabber-style is to distort it to a point where it becomes a square wave. Otherwise it'll sound weak.

And also, watch out for the levels. It may sound fine on your computer speakers, but a lot of speakers cause bass distortion if the kicks are too big, especially when they're distorted.

You may need/want to run it through more than one distortion plugin to get the sound you want.

Also experiment with EQ/Filters before distortion, If you remove a little bit of bass you can get alot more harmonics and a richer timbre, and if you boost the bass you can enhance the whack of the kick. A combination of the two in the effects chain can give some really good sounds.

It may sound odd to boost and cut the same frequencies, but with distortion plugins after the EQ it makes alot of difference.

Tipical kick audio chain.

Sampler/Synth
EQ/Filter
Distortion
EQ/Filter
Distortion
Final EQ so you can sit it in the mix.

A compressor is optional as a distorion unit will act as a compressor.

Also if you change the velocity of the kick sample pre-distortion the timbre of the output sound will change. So can be used to add interest to fills.

Edit: Spelling

If you want some real filth use a bitcrusher, i find it adds alot more dirt than distortion alone can :) Also for Gabber kick's filtering helps alot as The Deviant suggested. Refer to my last post in this link for some info regarding filtering:

In Reason you will find this thing called "scream4". take a normal kick, add a Scream4 to it and voilà, Gabber kick

Bad thing is I mostly prefer hhc kicks...
