Does anybody know any good hardware, softsynths, or vst's that will get that fantastic bouncy techno sound? (Not counting the pianos of course.) For examples of what I'm thinking of, Druid & Stormtrooper's "Pump This Party", or the synth melody to Gammer & G Spencer's "Feel This Way". If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Roland Alpha Juno 1/2 (they are essentially the same) were the most widest used synths for the old Hardcore sound id say, and definately for Bouncy Techno, i'll upload some examples so you know what i mean :)

They sell for around £150 on ebay, so very cheap!

Cool! I was thinking of getting a Juno 2 anyways, if only for the glory of having the original hoover patch.

yeah but you can make your own hoovers if you buy a keyboard

and you can't achieve that nice analog hum from your computer either =P

JunoX2 anyone?

Besides, old sounds are rinsed anyway.

What Brian K said! Samples are also very limiting; if you have the whole synth you can create any sound you like, it's also not expensive.

Unfortunately the software JunoX2 dosn't sound like the Hardware version :P

Samples are by no means limiting, if you have a sampler capable of real time time stretching i.e Kontakt, you can achieve some very good results.

The key with sampled stabs is layering. Alot of the classic rave stabs by todays standards are quite thin in sound so just play around with adding different stabs to the one you want as the most prominent until it sounds full.

Juno X2 is pretty crap on its own, but again, useful for filling out frequencies.

If you have a long sample then no they aren't that limiting, as i use such samples myself (usually waveforms), but limiting compared to the original synth is what i meant :)

Okay, thanks! I was getting a little frustrated with how thin my latest remix was, so now I'll try layering some more samples on it.
