I always think buying mixtapes from big events are a good choice
since it's great value for money.
But check HTID/RaverBaby/Slammin' Vinyl, most HHC mixtapes are in TAPE not CD Packs.
I don't have a TAPE record to play them and the sound quality is just crap,
much difficult to use than CD or MP3, could someone tell me why do them
always sold in TAPE Packs not CD Packs?

Because tape packs are illegal
they only get away with selling them because of the low sound quality

I think it's due to the licensing of artists tracks, or lack there of.. It's deliberately on tape so the quality will be low. That way when you hear an awesome track and think to yourself how great it would be to hear it in decent quality, you'll go out and actually buy it. I'm pretty sure the artists in the tape pack mixes dont get squat as far as royalties or payment goes.

Exactly. Most of your top hardcore DJs play sets comprised mainly of exclusive and unreleased material. If (for example) I have a high quality recording of Brisk's last live set, why would I bother buying the tunes that are featured when they see full release? I wouldn't. In effect, the artist loses sales.
Also, it's not that difficult to do some editing and get playable versions of said exclusive material if the recording is high quality.

plus it makes it difficult for posers to just dl the set off some p2p program then cut it up and try to mix into a set
I had a tape deck installed when I bought my car so I could still listen to tape packs, you damn youngins thinking you're better than analog =P

Most people already said it, tape packs are essentially illegal, the only reason producer and artists put up with it is because they are crappy tapes. Slammin did do CD's once a few years ago and got their asses sued by all the labels, search the news on the site for the info.
