getting very close to purchasing my first set of decks, and ive just run into a snag about pitch adjustment. basically, is 8% enough? sort of an open ended question, hopefully you understand what im getting at.
if it helps any, im looking at stanton str8-100's and tech1200/1210s(obviously not the mg5's, they cost far too much!)

take my advice, srsly, dont buy anything but the best. i cant begin to tell you how much money i would have saved if i had just saved up and bought 1200s and a real mixer right away.
shite decks are not worth it.
shite mixers are not worth it.
you'll just end up buying the real thing eventually (that is, if you're serious about this venture i.e. are going to be involved in it for a number of years) so save yourself the trouble and do it now. and if you dont have the $$$ on hand, trust me, take the extra time and save. it's worth it.
as far as what decks you should get, it sounds like the vestax PDX-2000 MKll Pros should satisfy you. everyone was worried when they came out that they might not stand the test of time like the 1200s. that was a while ago and they have. they're used by all the pros (if that matters to you). they're the sweetness.

+/- 50 pitch bender as well as a +/- 10 pitch shifter. that should satisfy the speedcore demon in you. that'd turn eyeopener into a 20 second 700 bpm track in no time
check froogle. i was able to find them in the low $400s (where the suggested retail is...$500 or so)

Go for techs, they are the ones you see out everywhere. if you're doing a lot of genre blending then you can always adjust the pitch on them yourself
Or, if you're getting started, get yourself some CD decks, they often have bigger pitch ranges, and you'll save heaps on music.
