How do producers like Sy & Unknown choose which trance tracks they want to remix? Is it just random, or are the only allowed to remix trance tracks that are anthems? Just wondering how that works, or can they just randomly choose a trance track and remix it?

I'd imagine that they choose which ones they want to mix, and no doubt certain labels contact artists if they want a remix done in a particular style.

They often just do rip offs, in which no original samples are used, so it's technically legal.

If you rip off a riff but use no copyrighted samples it's still illegal. Seems lately though eveything has been above board since hardcore is more commercially viable, I remember reading something by Paradise talking about how they've worked with Sy & Unknown but for the life of me I can't find it...

An anthem according to dictionary.com
1. a song, as of praise, devotion, or patriotism
2. a piece of sacred vocal music, usually with words taken from the Scriptures.
3. a hymn sung alternately by different sections of a choir or congregation
