What bit rate should I rip my CDs at?
I want the sound quality to be as high as possible.
As I see it, there is no point of ripping the CDs at 320kbps if the audio is not of that quality in the first place. What is the usual bit rate of your average compilation?
Any tips?

If I remember correctly, 192 kbps is considered "CD quality".
Might be wrong, though.

Yea, I thought that might have been it.
I would like some confirmation though.

As high as possible, so 320 kbps. A 320 kbps mp3 is not as good as wav quality. If you want to conserve space though then 192 is ideal.

128 kps is all you need to get decent sounding audio, but 320 is best.
(I completely misunderstood the question the first time, which is why I edited it.)

320kbps would be the best right now for mp3. Depends what you're ripping them to and for though. Uncompressed WAV is the hands down best, or an AIFF (whatever the mac wav is =P). You might want to consider mp4 and ogg as well to maintain high quality and conserve space.
