the simularities are amazing when you think about it. for a start. the term 'dance' music has been around longer since the 1980s. it goes as far back as trad-folk goes which I guess is pre 1960s because 1960 we had that folk revival.
so there's one simularitie. plus folk music is all about motifs, like synth stablines and tranceleads and wotnot, so does folk music, folk music relise on reputition. People moan about dance music just repeating the same lines over and over and over when really folk music did this, and the bassline changes underneath.
some traditional folk has a really happy jolly sound which i personally think is simular to the 94-96 sounds
