This is the first tune I've ever made and as you can hear I need some pointers, I know its really quiet but when I exported it from Reason that happened for some reason?! It also sounds muffled too, please don't be too harsh!

nice one joel mate

since meetin u at westfest and havin many a msn chat about hardcore i have been looking foward to hearing some of ur work

nice break beat into with nice bassline. it has potential i just felt it needs something more it felt a little bland. as u know my technical knowledge is limited and i cant say exactly what but it needs more energy. altho i love the whole 96-98 hardcore vibe it has

solid first attempt mate. keep up the work and i look forward to plenty more

Cheers Max!
It's been good getting to know you a little better, I have a lot to thank happyhardcore.com for, primarily for meeting you & you sorting out tickets for me out of your own pocket without us having ever met or spoken online before! This made mine and my mates night as Westfest tickets had sold out everywhere near us & it involved us both trusting each other, which could have had disasterous consequences had either of us been different people! You even refused 2 sell them 2 mates that pestered you! I was gutted 2 miss the meet-up with Silver & you lot (cause there was no herbal highs stand) & missed Silver's set but after getting the tapepack I can say it was bangin!!

I know the tune felt lacking in places but sometimes its hard to pinpoint exactly what needs changing or adding, I particularly found making a melody to fit the bassline challenging as my music theory is limited! I was also working to a deadline and didn't put as much time & effort in as I should have. Can't wait for your show on happynation.co.uk from 8-10 (PLUG! PLUG! PLUG!)

Bit disappointed with the amount of feedback I got, even 95_was_the_time got loads more than me and that wasn't even a proper tune, come on guys I value your opinions surely you can give a bit more feedback than that!

its not a bad first attempt, lord knows its a lot better than mine. But those tunez are safely locked away in the vault, and will NEVER return.

When you say your understanding of music theory is limited you need to be more specific, do you know anything about chords? note structure? rhythm? anything? its important to note however, EVERYBODY has started off where you are, and it seems kinda intimidating with the amount of information youll have to suck in. Especially considering as producing has a highly technical side to it, and its not just music theory. Example: Your track sounds quiet, compression would bring your track to its peak.

However, all of this aside the most important part of anything is to learn the basics back to front, so its like second nature, before moving onto something else, if you want to develop quickly and mature in composition. First thing you should probably look into is chord structure/ progression because i noticed that your melody is out of key to your bass. But in saying that, my ears arent too good and im using headphones, but its just what it sounds like.

You have to remember; with hardcore there is NEVER one thing happening at once, its very energetic and busy. Effects, vocal clips, percussion, synthesizing, drum rolls and snare rolls are all for effect. They had thing into the mix that would make something sound a lot more boring than everyone would by itself.

Best advice i can give you really is to get someone tot each you basics of music theory, and just practice. Once you have the fundamentals down, youll find can progress by yourself fairly quickly. Its cliche but practice makes perfect, and youll make progress, i promise you that you will. Every producer has been where you are at the moment. There are HEAPS of talented musicians on this site, and even more people that'll be willing to help you out. Raise your hand. Lots of people submit tracks on here and will lsiten, but wont say anything, even if they have something they wanna say. Ask for help. If your passionate youll get through and people will respond. This has turned into a mad ramble but do NOT give up, ive been where you are and its frustrating as all hell, but youll get there.

Sorry about the rant, i hope i gave you some guidance, even though i know i probably didnt haha.

Sorry guys.

nice one on first try.

my suggestions:
- pump up the volume BIG TIME
- use a lil harder kicks trough the whole track

i think the rest is rather good befre i start trowin in idea's that match my style.. dun want that to happen :p
