digi kills the hardcore scene? hm.. mayb.. but the price on pressin vynil helps aswell..

only the real big guys can make good money out of this.. lets hope we youngsters can be one of them :p

Considering that you're still not a known name, how can you say "i still dont get". Not to bash you or anything, but that's half thought through (hope I spelled it correct, my ingrish iz-no-good).

When it comes to Hardcore, most people who buy tracks (not albums) rather buy vinyls, because presumably they are DJ's. Even tho I'm a digital DJ, I still buy vinyls, if the track on it are very good and I can't buy it on CD or Digital.

Personally, I prefer CD, because then I can rip it into what ever quality, depending on how good the tracks on it where mastered from the beginning.

Not to bash you either, but if you where a subscriber of the HHC.com Premium Radio, is that a physical product aswell? (hopes Silver doesn't take offence in this)

bottom line is, in my opinion, people are to materialistic to want to buy MP3, as they don't feel like they own it. Alot of things today can be bought and downloaded legally (and ofcourse illegally), to lower costs of packaging. Theroratcily, selling digital would be a producer's dream, because he/the record-label owner wouldn't need to think about expensive pressing nor distrobution costs. This, ofcourse, is if you don't add any other things like theft or market

I'm like Samination, I mostly buy digital, but I buy a lot of exclusive tracks on vinyl. If the digital market expands, artists will continue to make money, whether or not it's being pirated. I could still illegaly distribute vinyl if I want to...just record it...I guess it's a lot harder than pirating digital downloads.

If you actually read all the posts before yours, you would have understood.

If digital completely takes over, and nobody is buying vinyl any more/ labels are LOSING money from distributing vinyl, and everything goes digital, if your only making 50 bucks per track, if its AMAZING, who is gonna wanna keep at it? Thats not even enough to live on. Maybe if you wanted to live with your parents for the rest of your life it would be okay. But im pretty sure nobody wants to do that. Producers are gonna turn to scouse house n shit like that, something which you actually get a reward for doing.

You can all say "you shouldnt be releasing hardcore for money anyway" or whatever you want. But if your a producer, professionally, your kinda ****ed aint ya?

if we say that you earn at tops 50 quid for a track, could anyone get a concrete example of this?

like;

Vinyl
cash earned - cash spent on vinyl pressing & distrobution costs = real earned cash

Download
cash earned - cash spent on webhotel or download store = real earned cash

I emailed sy at quosh records a while ago and asked how much the label takes from a producer's track. He said their label takes 50% of profit AFTER costs of production have been taken out of the revenue earned. Im assuming this is typical of most record labels.
