For years and years I've always thought that if you get together with a partner that your better off claiming legit. By claiming I mean shared earnings/income.
Myself and Kathryn have done this from the start, we've never wanted to try and screw the government & fellow tax payers out of money. Thing is, it now seems like we are the one's who are going to suffer.
I used to work 32 hours a week (a small drop from my old amount of hours), because of this Kathryn isn't entitled to claim any form of income support, and our housing benefit & council tax have been stopped. When we questioned this we where told that if I dropped my hours to part time work status that I would be able to claim the benefits that have been stopped. The thing is the amounts I we will be entitled to are tiny, if I was to go back to full time our entitlements would be zero full stop, and my wages wouldn't cover anything atall!!!
We have been getting Family Tax Credits, but when I've dropped my hours to part time, instead of these going up, they have gone down.
So as it stands now, we have NO Income Support, NO Housing Benefit, a low amount of Family Tax Credits, and because I'm only part time I get a tiny amount of pay! We're trying to raise three kids, plus manage our own lives aswell which is a hard task in itself.
It's as if the government are out to punish the people who try to claim legit, we could have done things the local scally way and not bothered to tell the council, we'd have been better off...and I mean alot better off. I don't get where they get these stupid f*cking calculations from.
I tell you, this government is f*cked up, my advice to anyone who is planning go claim legit with a new partner is to claim incapacity benefit...you'll be much better off.
Screw the Benefit's system, it's a f*cking p*ss take.

If our government was truly democratic and not such a cover up for a dictatorship... things would be different.

The only way a benefit sytems would every be fair would be if it was scrapped.
While i can understand Mortis's frustrations and agree that people should be encouraged to work rather than claiming as much benefit as possible, I still feel that to much help is given instead of forcing people to make hard choices. My views on this really are best kept to myself as they are probably quite extreme.
