what does back 2 back actually mean? Does it mean the dj's play a tune each?

usually yeah. They take it in turns to mix the tracks.

Battle sets would be better

when dj's are back2back they just share the set really tune each or couple of tunes each.......i agree battle sets are better ...i think its a promotor thing back to back so they get as many names on as possible to make you wanna go but its never the same as when one of those dj's are on by themselves.......mc's back to back is better or swaping dropping a tune each...just my opinion

I think the last set i saw advertized as a battle set was a Hixxy Vrs Sy 2hr set and that was at least 4 years ago.

This fashion of having 1hr B2B sets is gay imo. Whats the point? Depending on whta tunes they play it could be about 5 mixes each.

How does a battle work then?

Do they hit each other with records?

Seriously tho, how does a battle work?

It should be that they're almost vs. IMO, but now its turned into 1 tune for u, 1 tune 4 me bollox which is pre-determined and not interesting at all, especially when they have 2 raverbaby or dare I say it Raverbaby & Essentuial platinum sets which are BORING

my mate and i are gettin a few b2b sets atm, and we usualy play 2 tracks each then swap. but none if it is pre-planned and we do hav slightly differing styles (track selection AND mixing style) so it does keep it interesting!
tho i would prefer to do a "battle" style set where one plays half, then the other does sometimes!

what i'd really like to do is a uk vs finland freeform b2b set!
anyone from perth, wa who spins freeform and is interested contact me! would be sick! :D

A true battle set should be one tune from dj A followed by a tune from dj B. With dj's doing turntablisum tricks, dropping obscure tunes, and tunes that have things like key changes and tempo change.

If a batlle set was one dj playing for a half the time then the other playing, then its just two sets.

just going one-for-one limits what u can do with ur mixing tho. u cant double drop stuff, or start to bering something in, then ppull it back out n play something else, only to play the track u hinted at later in the set once u've built the crowd up for it...
2-for-2 or 3-for-3 is what i'd prefer.
