Alright, after long waiting and eBay surfing, I finally got my decks :D problem is, they sound like crap X_X. The signal sounds very tinny (no bass, mediocre midrange) and very faint. I'm gonna take a guess and say it could be the needles (one of them literally fell apart as the record was playing so yea, I'm guessing they were cheapies) but I wanted to come here to make sure. It's not the mixer, the amp, EQ's or anything else I can think of, so I'm getting confused ><. Any ideas or suggestions would be great.

make sure you cartridge is snuggly fit into the tone arm. are the tables plugged in the phono jacks of the mixer & not the line? also make sure the channel is set to phono.

Sounds to me like you've got either dodgy needles or you've just not set them up right. Take note of what Mr K says.

yeah i agree with brian, its probably not set on phono... maybe there might be something wrong with the mixer or the cables arent plugged in enough. maybe if your using one of the very much older mixers, make sure the cables arnt in surround. but if all these dont work, i dont have much of a clue.

You plugged them into the phono input and grounded them on your mixer?

aaaah, the joys of the very first set of decks. All the info given is all cures to your problem, if it persists I'd think its your decks, needles, amp or cables.

Sorry to say mate but i think thats your problem!
Both decks do the same? If so is there no one you can borrow needles and a mixer from?
My bet would be on cheap crap needles and carts or the mixer is f*cked!
Hope you get it sorted and will bve posting your first mix soon:P

its most definetly shit grounding or its not set on phono, i wouldnt really be sure, unless he has a real old mixer where you need to attach the cables into the main or surround sounds, it should be in the main ... he hasnt go back to us so im not sure whats happened lol.
