Hard Tek sounds nothing like Freeform... I'll post some example clips when I can be arsed. I recon you're not listening to Hard Tek mate.

Freeform is around 160 - 180, though it could be faster, just never heard it produced faster than 180.
Sorry if someone out there produces freeform at 180+!

Freeform = hardcore with prominent trance elements and a huge amount of experimentation, particularly in melodic construction. Tends to be the same as most of the trancecore (about 175) produced these days.
Hard Tek = short for "hard techno", which means techno with "hard" elements like noise loops, heavy/distorted kicks, "evil" sounding samples, and so on. Tends to be produced at the 140-155 range, though there are a few slower tracks out there.
They sound absolutely nothing alike, though freeform and hard trance tend to share huge similarities in everything but bpm.

As far as I'm aware it's not an abbreviation of Hardcore Tek, no. Does certainly have elements of some hardcore techno in it though.

I knew something like this was gonna happen lol.
Can't say I've heard him drop it in one of his sets though. Fastest thing I've heard from him was around 190 and the crowd was going absolutely bananas.
