Ken Livingstone is planning >to use tax payer's money to build an
enormous mosque costing an >estimated 100M in the docklands. What do you
think about it? Wouldn't it >be better to spend the money on a new
hospital or improved transport >facilities??

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/poll/poll-18791-details/ques-18669-id/%C2%A3100m+mosque%3A+Vote+now/poll.do

What a joke. They shouldn't be able to spend a single penny of tax payers money on any religion! How can they justify it. This actually severely pisses me off.

Why would you choose to bulid in one of the most expensive parts of London :/

Quite agree about not contributing to Religious buildings. Let the idiots pay for it themselves

Wonder if this would recieve any news coverage at all if it was a church?

But yes £100 million seems rather excessive. Although I also heard majority of the money is coming from the Middle East and not the tax payer...

I think we both know the answer to that. The anti-muslim/immigrant views which seem to be sweeping large parts of society will not have a good ending imo.

Hmm that's a bit different then... They're welcome to spend as much of their money as they like just don't think any of the tax payers money should go on any religious development.

You don't know the figures then I gather?

I know. Religion is good in the hands of rational people. These terrorists aren't actually Muslims seeing as they just piss all over the teachings of the Quran. They're just lunatics waving a religion as a excuse for whatever they do. Just strange that when IRA commited acts of terrorism people were able to distinguish between the idiots commiting the acts and all the regular Catholics, yet can't seem to do it with Muslims.

I certainly recognise it... Quarter of my family are Muslim and they're certainly not terrorists.

I dont trust people that believe in elves, the easter bunny, father christmas, or jesus, allah, yahweh or a flying spagetti monster. I certainly dont want to contribute to their fantasy and would resent it if taxpayers money was being spent on that. Then again, I resent paying tax for the police that dont come and the nhs that doesnt work, and the refuse collection that doesnt collect properly. Or wars for oil. Or Trident nuclear weapons. Now I think of it, pretty much 90% of what I pay for in this country is against my wishes, or very sub standard.
Still, the solution is pretty simple. Leave the UK. Or kill myself. Or kill everyone who doesnt agree with me. Which is fine as long as I have some ragged old book that says I can because its Gods will! Yay!

I hope if it is tax payer's money then equal money is being put into other faith based projects else Livingstone becomes nothing more than what Bush and the religious right are trying to in the US in an inverted way.
I am a Christian but firmly believe state and faith should be kept seperate.

I am not a tax payer, but I totally agree that none of the nation’s people’s money should ever be spent on any pathetic fantasy.
