Hey, everybody. I've been using Fruity Loops for a while, and I've managed to make some pretty acceptable stuff. But I always run into a problem when I'm doing my music.

My tracks never seem to feel "full". They have a begining, middle, and end. They have catchy tunes, solid basslines, decent drums. But the track always feels... Dull? Not that it's a bad song, it just doesn't have that OOMPH that makes the climax feel HEAVY.

Can anybody give me some tips for bulking up the climax of a track?

I've actually been having the same problem, so any help would be appreciated by me too.

Mr Hard2Get posted some excellent linkage there. Definitely check them out.

In the first one (or 2nd?) they talk about layering - use it! A lot of issues at the start of electronic music production are with presets - they already have that key element you're after and people don't think beyond that.

Go listen to your favorite hardcore track and to the different parts. Like the lead for instance. You'll notice that main sound that really makes it, but do you hear that bid extending into the midrange too? And what about the massive sound spread all across the stereo image making it sound really wide? And the warmth, where did that come from? You'll notice the same thing for bass lines, drums, and everything else too.

So make them. You hear 3 key elements making up a lead in a track you like, make sure you put in three synths with each one trying to emulate one of those parts. Then it's just filter/eq/compression to make them sound like one piece. Lot of low end on that kick but it still pops? Add two kicks, low pass one with a nice sound in the low end, high pass one with pop. Lots of drums going on all over? Put them in! I think when I do tracks there are no fewer than 8 single shots loaded + breakbeats and loops on top of that. Fuzzy basslines rest in both the low and high end. get those two parts in there and scrap the bit in the middle so you don't mask everything else going on.

the best advise i've been given is a bit like milo said, first "emulate" your favourite track really listen & try to recreate the sounds you hear, all the time your playing with your recreation your learning different skills which will roll over into your own tracks, even sounds you've stumbled on when you've been messing around.

definitely read hardtoget's link though, it's like a mini tutorial
