Yesterday, I came across an excellent trance track by DJ Ten, called Tokyo Rave.
I thought it would make one helluva HC remix so I got to work.
Here's a small clip of the main body of the tune, which isn't finished yet.
If I get some good feedback on it, I'll finish it and master it as soon as poss' otherwise I've got a million and one other thing to be getting on with (including 20 tracks I have started but didn't finish)
This isn't sampled at all, it's made from scratch in reason 3.0 (I hate FL)

Please post the full version of this when you're done. It's so awesome, and so oldschool. I want to see how this turns out.

No problem!
Should be finished in a few hours, I've been working on it all night and I've got a basic structure. Just working on some bridges, sfx and a clean up.
It's hard to create something that compliments that awsome trance hook, without it sounding samey and unoriginal.
Thanks for the feedback, just the kind of feedback I likes

Very nice! A few suggestions though:
1. Make it a little faster.
2. Try to include a second melody somewhere in there. It gets a little repetitive with only the one melody, even though it's still awesome. Maybe an arp or two would help as well.
3. Try to work in a few hoover stabs too. Seems like it would be a useful addition.

Thanks for the input.
I was getting tired since I was up all night working on it, so I just chucked the rest of it together. I'm gonna finish it properly tonight.

That melody has definatley got something about it, it sounds very Japanese, like a tune Shadow K would have made (suppose thats why its called TOYKO Rave I agree that it needs to be a bit quicker but apart from that it is sounding very promising *edit* wow that melody is catchy, I've had to play the song about 5 times all ready haha I'll look forward 2 the finished one!!!

Ta!
Feedback makes the sleep deprivation all worth while!
When the track is totally finished I'm gonna get 50 or so pressed to see if any DJ's will give it some playtime.
I haven't played out myself in over a year, that's why I've been trying my hand at production. (most promoters require it thesedays)

Well if it turns out anythin like that I'd be game to buy a copy off you ....not that it'll get played outside my bedroom
Where did you used to play out? (I thought from your tune id thread you were from Newcastle so I just wondering if it was anywhere i would have been )

I'm actually from the Chester le street area.
I've played at Evissa in SouthShields <played a house set in a trance club, dirty looks all round : )
The Brunswick in SouthShields - (titty bar, I aint kiddin') Played trance and h/house
Chameleon in Sunderland (when it used to be Gillespies) Played trance and h/house
Strength2Strength at Infusion in Sunderland < Played house and nujazz
Huxters in Chester < Played house and nujazz
Kasbah in San An' Ibiza <- Mainly mellow trance, but played some house too
Nearly played at the telewest arena in Newcastle through a competition on metro radio. I came joint first with some 12 year old kid and since I'm not too grand on the mic, wayne tunnicliff (arsehole) gave it to him.
I hope he had a heart attack and died of stage fright <- I'm not bitter : )
Considering I started DJing just under 10 years ago, that's not a lot.
But I'm a DJ not a promoter, my self promotion isn't very good.

Well, I've hit a wall with my track. Adding another melody is beyond me as I can't create one that compliments the main synth. It was hard enough to make the simple intro melody sit right. I couldn't find a hoover that was soft enough so that it didn't oblitterate the rest of the track. However, I did speed it up to 172BPM (that is within my capabilities)
After talking to a few friends, I've decided to write a vocal for it which should hide the musical shortcomings.
While I'm doing this, the master has been sent to vinylcarvers.com to be cut on a one-off record for my persoal use, just until the vocal is finished.
It will have the vox mix on the a-side and the dub on the b-side of the completed record.
Once this is done, I'll get 50-100 pressed and you guys will get first refusal of my first released track.
::EDITSKI::
The track has been posted over at hardcoreproducer.com, as suggested by Shades_Of_Grey. (cheers mate!) Hopefully, they'll have some good advice on finishing it and I'll be able to scrap the vox that I've been writing for it.

Whee! Sounds great! Only advice I can give is to up the lead and off beat hoovers in the mix. Once you get those two more prominent, you will have officially won at the game of hardcore.
Oh, and now that I'm getting to the hoover part of the song, make the hoovers brighter, and more highpassed sounding, or they'll sound weird when they're more prominent in the mix.
Great job!

Again Pope, thanks for the input.
The reason the leads aren't very bright is that I used a compressor on the whole track, instead of seperately routing copressors to each channel like I should have done.
I should be able to fix that without too much of a headache.
