Haha mate best bet is the ****in BBQ in my opinion. Anyone who tells you that there is something more Aussie than having brekkybeers at 9 am followed by snags and steak for lunch on a barbie is lying out their ass!

Also not much is open christmas day. If you wanna go all posh theres some fancy restaurants open in the centre of the city. But thats expensive. And not as fun.

Get drunk all day, have a barbie with mates and maybe go to the beach. Quality aussie christmas day. Thats what ve been doing for about 10 years :)

man if the weather was anything like last year then its going to be about 35 degrees celcius. Itll be ****ing HOT!

Try New Years Day. 40 Degrees. Hung over as ****. Beach. Bad choice.

Stayed there for a whole of 5 minutes before i decided i needed cold drinks and the HOT rum and coke just wasnt doing it for me.

Im actually doin the BBQ thing this year, sept im staying well away from the beach and just having mad drinks with mates by a pool. ****ing good shit.

Ever been to Aus before?

If you go to a resturant, make sure their Xmas dinner portions are mighty generous. I made that mistake in Canary islands :( .....just 3 brussel sprouts, it still haunts me today!

Other than that I reccomend a day on the beach

yeh but look at where u were at the canary island (i think thats expensive) best thing to do (although havent really done it ) is to go down to the beach n get pissed...but u might wanna bring some sun screen cause the sunburnt will kill u....literally worst pain ever can't even sleep somtimes let alone move if u get it bad around the shoulder neck area

mkaes a good point, considering your british, no offense but ur probably white a **** and unless its pissing ur not gona believe the amount of burnage that can happen. I'm quite dark for an aussie, but iv still been so burnt that i couldnt go in water warmer for luke warm, couldnt wear shirts or lie on my back, for 3 days. wear sunscreen.

As for the beach. packed on christmas day. ur gona be looking for ages to find parking i would suggest heading to a less popular beach such as garie. (sutherland shire - royal national park), or heading down the south coast a few hundred k's or so. Kiama has a few good beaches and is hour n bit south of sydney and shouldnt be too packed, though dont take my word for it. i'm dont know much about the beaches up north as i dont go up there often, but if u are willing to travel the day or two before i would deffinately recommend either port maquarie (3.5 h),coffs harbour (6) or byron bay (9). its a long drive but they are 3 brilliant locations, particularly byron. also if ur partial to a bit of the good grass u should have no trouble finding any in the latter 2.

so esentially if ur gona go beach make sure u get there early. there is usually bbq's at the beaches i think. bbq breakfast is tops, bit of kangaroo is always good. ;-). kidding bout the kangaroo its way to salty for my taste, but deffinately try bbq pineapple and lamb cutlets, and just hope its not gona be 47 degrees like ny day 2006
