I've just scored myself two nice shiny 19" wide screen monitors :) Now I need to set them up...

I am assuming I'll need to fit a second graphics card? It shouldn't cause a problem if I just use an old Voodoo 3000 as a secondary card should it? How do you go about making sure this doesn't affect your computer when your playing games etc. Can you set it so games only open up in the one screen ran by your primary card?

How do I actually go about setting the two monitors up in windows xp?

Thanks for any help on this.

What you need is a graph card with either dual vga, dual dvi, or one vga and one dvi output or you could go second graph card but im not 100% sure how that works tbh.

You select one monitor to run as primary and one to run as secondry. What will happen when playing games is that they will open on the primary.

Right clicking on your desktop, go to properties, then settings or apperances, cant remember which one it is and you can change which monitor is primary etc.

Grab a copy of ultramon makes running dual screens so much better.

OK, cheers mate :) I must admit I haven't checked what monitor outputs my current card has and can't ATM as I'm at work... I just assumed they usually have one but I guess I'm probably wrong in that assumption.

Never heard of ultramon I'll take a look :) I gather it's some type of software.

Have a look at the gfx card to see if it has a dvi output aswell as the normal blue one, if it does allyou will need to do it get a dvi convertor which cost a few quid and ull be ready to go. Just right click on desktop and go into the screen properties and you double click on the second screen and it will load up :)

Yeah ultramon is software. It allows you to do things like extend the taskbar over to the 2nd monitor and various other things.

You might not need a dvi convertor if the monitors have both vga and dvi sockets on the back
