I'm currently using Cubase SX3 and have been for a year or so now, it's good, only trouble is I'm getting tired of my VST's, everything is starting to sound to much the same, does anyone know where I can get or downloads some new generation VST synthersizers and instruments.

I've been using a demo of FL 7 and they have some decent VST's but I can't find anywhere as I say to get hold of them.

If anyone could help me or point me in the right dirrection then I would be greatful

Cheers Ben

1. Use the search button.

2. I will now list the freeware availible at KVRaudio that is made of awesome and win.

1. KarmaFX - An amazing modular synth with ridiculous amounts of control over the sound, while surprisingly unintimidating (by modular standards, anyways.) You can literally do anything with this one (though no supersaw function yet, which would be nice), and is fantastic for 303's, basses, and various twisted psy sounds (and lots of control over the modulation of the knobs, so you can do long, shifting acid leads with it.)

2. Synth1 - I have no idea how to use it, but everyone raves about it. Apparently a Nord Lead emulator of sorts, and is supposed to be great for those who are skilled at whatever kind of synthesis it is that it uses.

3. Crystal - Once again, control is the name of the game. Crystal has got to be the greatest free synth you can get when you're desiring pads and atmospherics. Huge amounts of control over the sound you get, and the unique "breed" button, which takes various attributes from two "parent" sounds and mashes them together, with the option to make the sound mutate randomly. Very cool, and useful if you're willing to put some time into it.

4. Superwave P8 - Roland JP8080 emulator. A really, really awesome emulator. A definite must for any oldschool/goa trance, especially in how damn accurate it is. I really wish I could say anything beyond how close it gets to those beautiful uses of the supersaw that characterize early goa trance. Gets some absolutely amazing strings too.

5. Bionic delay - Free. Awesome. Gets a great, dubby sound, which adds a lot of trippy character to whatever you put it on, including trance leads.

6. TN 303 - If you can find a way to get it, do so. The only way to get a hold of the greatest 303 emulation ever (and I say that excluding only the x0xb0x, and assuming you're really good at manipulating the somewhat clunky controls) is to find the German fella who made it via Youtube and message him from there. It's worth it, because it really does sound like a 303 if you have enough skill with the knob twiddling. (Haha, I said "knob twiddling.")
