im trying to record a mix from my turntables to my laptop but im having trouble with the final product
i have the booth output going to my speakers, and the master going to my laptop running Audacity
i set up all the levels so all peaks are just under the red, but after im done recording and i play the mix back, the treble will change randomly through out the song. Like some parts the highs will be really loud and stand out, and other times they are quiet and not as obvious. Do i need to change the settings for Audacity to change this or is it just my soundcard or something?

I don't know audacity at all but I assume you can add effects? Do you have a compressor running over the whole channel or something?
Are you keeping the EQ controls flat on your mixer (excluding when your cutting bass etc during a mix obv'). Are you watching the gains?
All sounds pretty obvious but...

All i had to do was change the input to line and i was good to go!
Dont know if this will help you but i would try recording from the booth output of the mixer, by doing this i get a much better quality recording compared to recording from the master output
