im in the british army,so always on the move but dont like to be without a mix for more than a few days so take my dex everywhere.
iv recently decided to invest in a cdj & am currently recording my vinyl collection to mp3 (which is taking forever!) so that i dont have to keep lugging records up n down the country.
im still gonna buy vinyl for now but how long is it before turntables become the new video recorder & vinyl, the video cassette?
do you think digital will completely take over one day?
this is where someone sends me a link to previous posts...............

yeah but do you ever think dance music companys will ever decide to stop cuttin vinyl & use cd's or downloads instead?
for instance, the recent stoppage of cassettes being produced.....tapes are no more!!
....maybe one day it will be vinyls turn?

so say it did happen.
what will the "purists" do?
just play "classics" the whole time?
or simply stop mixxing?

They'd moan a lot, then switch to CDJ-s or whatever medium would be dominant at that time. ;)
Personally, I'd love to be able to keep using both turntables and CDJ-s well into the future... But if things actually go the 'video recorder' way, I'll adapt.

thinkin about how long vinyl has been used hasnt it been used since the 1900s. making it the longest time any medium has been used for music. its lasted along time it will last longer

No i don't think vinyl will die off. It might slow down a bit, but i think there's always gonna be a market for vinyl & while that exists labels will continue to cut em.
