Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help me to make a vinylgroover style synth stab, similer to the one used in 'Time'... I would greatly appreciate it if you could help.

Loads of free stab samples in the hardcore sample pack that came with computer music (JULY ISSUE). :) I'm sure you'd find something similar in there!
As for making one... I'll give it a shot if I get a sec.

i usually make my own stabs. do u think vinylgroover did? was he a talented producer and dj?

samples probably arent the best way to go about getting the right sound in production. Most of the time, you can tell it was a sample. Unless you got someone to do a vst preset. Still, even then, isnt half the fun of producing the challenge? Why avoid the big chapter of producing hardcore known as synthesis?
IMO too many people nowdays want to have a specific sound like someone else. And then people complain about hardcore being stale. Well, its not going to get any better with people copying other people.
Not having a go at you or anything mate, but why not make a stab yourself? Tweak it until you think it sounds good, rather than thinking it 'sounds like that sound that producer used!'

i have made heaps of stabs, as i do for every song i make, but i just reeally love that sound, no sound in a stab is a good as that to me, and ive been trying for a few days now to get it, hence why i post on here, just looking for help from more talented produecers (only 13). but thanks anyway man =].

I personally used to dream about someday achievieng the stab sound off of heart of gold.
now I feel that part of producing a good track has to do with having an ear for using the right sounds.
ever sat down to produce with a set of sounds,all of which individually sounded alright,and after a while realizing that they just don't blend?
