Are cd mixes recorded from a DJ mixing with vinyl, or using a cdj? I am assuming a cdj, but I want to know for sure, lol.

Hey warped_candykid

You can do both, depends on what the dj likes. If he likes vinyl, he can do it with them, but today many dj's prefer cd's because they are smaller and easier to get.

Some dj mixes are also done without cd's or vinyl, just with computer dj programs or special kind of hardware that gives you the opportunity to mix with mp3/wav files.

And at least, you can also mix with tapes that would be massive 0ldschool

Only someone thats done a commercial mix (bonkers etc) would be able to tell you. Everyone has their thoughts on it. I dont think anyone *actually* knows.

Most of the new comps don't use either and are just done on a computer...
Not even really mixed at all.

Bonkers 1 was on decks and I guess lots of the older mixes would have been too.
