What are your opinions on having Top40 pop tunes remixed into hardcore vs. all original material. I particularly enjoy hearing a familiar tune in a whole new way, especially in a format I tend to prefer like Hardcore!
You can sing along because you already know the words, but when that new, fresh riff hits, you can bounce to it like any other fresh new hardcore track :)

i share your enthusiasm.
having said that, there are still some songs that should just NOT be touched. but then again that's up to personal preference.

not a fan, but i can deal with it. I am assuming your talking about euro pop tracks remixed into Hardcore, so I can never tell if a track is an original, or a remix from a pop song. I dont even listen to American pop. This may sound like I am limiting myself, but I stick to Dance music only. I just cant get into any other form of music, EDM is where my heart is at.

i would like alot of Hardcore tracks and none Hardcore tracks to be remixed into Bouncy Techno style with hard bassdrums and Techno riffs, Critical Mass- Burning love is like that, The DJ Weirdo and DJ Sim remix is a classic example of this!

Well I guess what ever kind of pop Zerophonik is talking about. I hate it when American pop & hip hop tracks are remixed into the dance tracks, because thats all Wal-Mart sells! I go to Wal-Mart to buy some music, and all they have are cds with remixed pop tracks, occasionally a "Trance Party" cd.

They can work really well sometimes. For example Tracks using a few elements (most often the vocal) or rearranged to fit higher tempo or include a break.
However dropping a pop tune as breakdown completely out of context to the rest of the track rarely works. I seem to remember a lot of the early Go Mental tracks were like this!
