Anyone else ever had any trouble at work for going on hhc.com?
I just had this website banned at my work and Im crushed :(
I've been trying to explain to them that it's not pornography but no one seems to listen or they just don't care. To them its easier to push a button and ban it altogether. Now I only get the couple hours Im at home after work and before I go to sleep to come on here, which is why I haven't been as active these last few days...
I feel like punching that ignorant fool at my work...

We arn't even aloud to use the internet in work, unless it's for work reasons. Getting our e-mails spot checked now too.

AFAIK Yes, but only in UK. Swedish military is trying to get permission to monitor emails in Sweden. In response the Swedish-Finnish telco TeliaSonera moved all finnish customers email servers to Finland.

Email is considered almoust the same as regular mail. You can use your work email for personal communication too. I'm sure US has civil liberties too? ;) Here if i'm away, they can read my email only if its essential to the employers business and it cant wait. First they have to read the subject/sender info, if that indicates its a message that is vital to the employers business they can read it. But there has to be a witness (another employee), and they have to file a detailed report to me (who read, what email and why), which will have to be given to me ASAP.

Where I work it is very much as Brian K said, anything we produce on the computers at work are deemed to be owned by the MOD. All employees are made fully aware of this though upon arrival, and I believe it is enforced in email signatures too.

Ill have to try it out next week sucks about that email thing, im pretty sure it would be an invasion of privacy over here. Employees are very protected and sometimes employers get the shaft because of it.

that's not very nice of them now is it?!
At my work i'm pretty lucky, they're laid back and i show them the website and the streaming radio and all i get is a "TURN THAT S**T OFF!" at which point i just put on the headphones and ignore them all.
at my work i read the contract and basically regurgitating what the ever-wise Whispering said, they can indeed read your emails over here, and as Mr Brian K says yup, it is their property and mail servers, they can pretty much do whatever they want.
So i just use hotmail for personal and be done with it ^_^
