Over the weekend, i became a victim of unfortunate circumstance, and resulted in me losing a significant amount of skin off the toes on my left foot - more than id like to lose at any rate. I'm wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation, and if so, how long until the swelling goes down and how long until it becomes possible to bear wearing shoes again

They'll probably drop off in a few days, then u'll be able to fit your shoes back on easy enough
What happened by the way?

in short, i scraped my foot along a road at 50 kph ~ 30 mph.
i was walking down to a friends house and with about 100 odd metres to go another mate turned up, going to the same place. this particular friend owns a ute and the passenger seat was occupied, so he sed jump on the back. There was a lid on the tray but at the end of the tray there was enough room to stand, and i was holding on to the end of the tray. at the time i was wearing thongs (maybe known to you lot as flipflops?). anyway, thongs dont have the greatest grip and one foot slipped off and got scraped along the road a fair bit. if i was wearing proper shoes i wouldnt have slipped, at worst my feet would have been fine, if i was bare foot i prob wouldnt have slipped. It was a decent sight - blood and bits of skin coming off at all angles. looks better now but still pretty nasty.

you'll most likely die 7 - 9 months sooner due to the skin loss
