Hey all,
Ive been an active clubber for some time now, but never really got into the whole 'hardcore' scene outside of the dance floor. Recently after one messy night at the Syndicate (Blackpool) im thinking id like to try listening to some stuff and getting a bit more knowledgeable about it all
Anyone have any reccommendations as a place to start looking? Preferably looking to find remixed 'popular' songs (Hall of the Mountain King, Total Eclipse of the heart and others were some I was very impressed with the other day) and some club classics - can anyone point me to some albums/songs to get me into the genre? Got the 'floorfillers' CDs the other day which I was really not too impressed with..
Cheers

If you are talking about the modern scene then the Clubland Extreme and Bonkers CD's are ok , Hardcore Adrenaline and the Helter Skelter ones are quite good too.
If you want to experience the older hardcore, you'll have to have a shifty about for earlier stuff.
Either way you wont go wrong.

That's not hardcore mate.
Hardcore underground 1 and the soon to be released hardcore underground 2 would be a good place to start. There is also the series listed above (although the amount of hardcore on the Helter Skelter series is pretty small), Hardcore Heaven series + tons of others about ATM. There really is no shortage of hardcore these days.

Yeah but the helter skelter covers a wide area, and there are some wicked tracks to be had on the CD's. Maybe not pure hardcore, but ear candy from the world of hardcore.
