After nearly 7 years of arguing we finally prevail!
To be honest, though, Obie isn't someone with anything to prove. He's in the best position he can be in his career and that's a good thing for everyone. He does his job, and that is to hype up and entertain the crowd, and contribute to the music. I think he does that quite well.
The issue with MC's comes in when they do have something to prove. If an MC thinks he can prove he's talented, he'll start rapping ridiculous rhymes over the music and start to take away from the experience. They try to become the center of attention and they forget what their role actually is. This happens with a lot of MC's trying to establish themselves.
In fairness though, you have to pity the MC line of work. You have an occasional slot at events to prove to promoter's you're worth hiring, but you also want to be perceived as one of the best. An MC has an hour at a time to prove their worth, and their performances can become very hit or miss.
Producers in relation have it very easy. We can promote ourselves and our music online until our hearts content. A producer can pay their music, and if its popular and goes down well with a crowd, they'll be booked again.
